After leaving Texas A&M in the summer of 1967, I headed back to Houston to
find a job again with Houston Independent School district, I was hired to teach
Physical science and Biology at Sam Houston High School (then the largest
high school in the Houston area) In 1971 I met my future wife, who was a
computer clerk at Sam Houston. We were married in 1971 and have been
married now for going on 48 years. In 1973 I took a pay cut to move to the
Spring district, where I taught Physical Science, Chemistry, Marine Science,
Geology, Physics, Health, and Biology at different times.I also coached J.V.
Soccer. I retired in 2000 and then spent 3 years teaching and coaching in
private schools, and then sold school books for McGraw-Hill.
During the winter of 2019, Roger and I began texting each other and talking mainly about the
winter and snow he was having. Because Roger saved a picture that was taken with his
camera, we now have this picture. Thank you Roger!!. Our entire group was on the Galveston
Ferry on a field trip. (I do not remember it but here we are) Roger and I are smoking our
stogies and it must have been cool enough for jackets. I am guessing this was taken in '66 or
maybe '67. Every friday night we had a poker game at our apartment and these 4 were usual
participates along with several more.
